Six colleagues from Blick Rothenberg, a leading audit, tax, and business advisory firm, have raised over £10,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Connection at St Martin’s, a homeless charity.
The team embarked on a challenging 50-mile trek along the Jersey coastline, walking in memory of former colleagues Linda Bute and Mike Scoltock, who both passed away from cancer and had taken part in the inaugural Blick Rothenberg Jersey Walk 15 years ago.
The group, from the Business Excellence Award sponsor accountancy and tax advice firm, comprising Andy Sanford, Heather Powell, Paul Haywood-Schiefer, Katharine Campbell, Darsh Shah, and Dharma-Dav Morzaria, began their adventure on Friday 13th from Gorey on Jersey’s East Coast. Heather Powell, Head of Property at Blick Rothenberg, reflected on the experience, describing the picturesque coastal views and the camaraderie that helped them push through the physical challenges of the walk.
“The next two days were fuelled by a dangerous mix of diet coke and painkillers, but it was the great company and conversation of what some would class as six misfits that kept us going!” said Powell. Despite the aches and pains, the team was encouraged by the overwhelming support of colleagues and friends, whose generous donations contributed to their fundraising efforts.
The walk culminated with a triumphant arrival at Gorey Castle, where the weary but accomplished group celebrated their achievement. In addition to the £10,000 raised, Blick Rothenberg will make a further donation in support of The Connection, the firm’s charity of the year.
