The Purpose Beyond Profit Award

A shared vision and purpose give direction to teams, galvanising people to achieve meaningful goals beyond commercial performance. An ambitious long-term mission engages all stakeholders, from employees and customers to potential investors.

This special award recognises organisations that have a strong purpose beyond profit, can demonstrate that integrity, ethics and a social conscience make commercial sense, have made a real impact in their community or inspired positive change in their industry.

Judges will look for evidence of how purpose beyond profit has been brought to life in organisations of all types and sizes across all sectors.

• What ambitious problem are you solving with your product, service or solutions, and how does your cause align with your business model?

• How does leadership support or incentivise purpose beyond profit?

• How has a purpose led approach differentiated your business and supported commercial success or social impact?

• How has it helped you to attract and retain both customers and employees?

In this category judges will compare the extent to which each candidate has demonstrated excellence in the following areas:

Employee & Customer Engagement 25%

  • Explain how a culture of purpose beyond profit in your organisation has helped you to attract and retain the best talent in your team.
  • How have your purpose, values or mission enabled you to win or retain clients?
  • Provide case study examples and top line data to demonstrate how your purpose has helped you to compete more successfully for talent and customers over the last 18 months.

Leadership & Innovation 25%

  • Demonstrate evidence of how you have innovated with your business model / service or been innovative in putting purpose before profit. How has this contributed to your organisation’s success?
  • How has leadership enabled or incentivised purpose beyond profit with employees and customers to improve impact in your community or positive change in your industry?
  • How have you innovated with technology, platforms or processes to improve impact, productivity and achieve your purpose?

Financial Performance & Growth 20%

  • Explain your key growth metrics, including financial targets, KPIs, timescales and overall ambitions plus examples of how they align with your purpose and company values.
  • Demonstrate evidence of how your organisation has led or achieved a positive social impact within its sector or local communities.
  • How do you benchmark against your peers in terms of impact as well as sales, profitability, and market share?
  • How has your company performed against your growth plan and purpose?

Purpose Beyond Profit 30%

  • How has your guiding mission, values or purpose aligned with growth objectives?
  • What is your company doing to improve environmental, social or governance impact and how are these initiatives aligned with commercial success?
  • How does your approach to diversity, equity and inclusion align purpose with profit. How has this differentiated your business or made you more competitive?
