British Gas has been named a finalist in The Customer Loyalty Award at The Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2026, shortlisted for British Gas Memberships, a programme the company says is designed to simplify home ownership through ongoing support, protection and value-added benefits.
The finalists were announced in July 2026, and the winners will be revealed at a ceremony at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on 10 November 2026. For British Gas, the shortlisting recognises a deliberate move beyond traditional energy supply into a broader service relationship with its customers.
From transactions to relationships
Operating in the UK energy and home services market, British Gas combines energy, servicing, repair and smart technology in a single subscription-led experience. According to the business, what sets the proposition apart is the integration of essential home services with personalised, membership-based benefits, shifting interactions from one-off transactions towards longer-term relationships.
The company reports that its engineer network, combined with digital innovation and data-driven insight, allows it to deliver convenience, peace of mind and proactive care. Memberships are built around real customer needs, it says, with bundled services, exclusive rewards and proactive maintenance intended to improve reliability, deepen engagement, increase retention and create a more predictable, resilient business model.
Free to join, built to keep
Details published on the British Gas website show that Membership is free to join and open to all British Gas customers, with a digital Membership Wallet giving access to member-only offers, savings on repairs and servicing, and regular competitions and giveaways. The site states the programme launched in 2025, and in summer 2026 the supplier was running a prize draw offering more than £24,000 in bill credits, including the chance for five members to have their energy paid for a full year. Members redeem offers through their online British Gas account, with help available by phone or live chat.
Scaling a new proposition
Among the achievements set out in its entry, the company points to the successful launch and scaling of the membership proposition, growing customer adoption of subscription-based services, and closer collaboration across product, digital, field operations and customer service teams, which it says has enabled faster innovation and improved service delivery, supported by targeted engagement strategies.
British Gas is part of Centrica, which describes the supplier on its corporate website as the UK’s leading energy and services company, providing gas, electricity and energy services to residential and small business customers. According to the business, the membership model is helping to lead a wider transition towards service-led, relationship-driven energy provision, delivering growth alongside meaningful differentiation in a rapidly evolving market.
British Gas now joins the other businesses shortlisted for The Customer Loyalty Award, which celebrates companies that turn consistently strong service into lasting customer relationships. The winners will be announced when The Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards returns to Grosvenor House on 10 November 2026.
