Lyreco UK & Ireland, one of the country’s leading distributors of workplace products and services, has been named a finalist in The Social & Sustainable Impact Award at the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2026, recognition for a century old business that has made sustainability and social value central to how it trades.
Part of the global Lyreco Group, the company traces its heritage to 1926, when it began as a small family paper business in France. It has since grown into an international organisation operating across Europe and Asia, supplying businesses with essential workplace solutions. Today Lyreco UK & Ireland provides a comprehensive range spanning office supplies, facilities management, personal protective equipment and workplace essentials, combining strong digital capabilities with a logistics network that delivers next-day services to customers across both public and private sectors.
Sustainability embedded in the offer
Lyreco is widely recognised within its sector for operational excellence, customer service and strong supplier partnerships. It has also established itself as a leader in sustainability and social value, embedding responsible practices into sourcing, operations and customer solutions. That includes offering extensive ranges of environmentally responsible products, improving supply chain transparency and supporting customers in reducing their own environmental impact.
The credentials are externally validated. The Lyreco Group announced in 2025 that it had achieved the EcoVadis Platinum medal with a score of 86 out of 100, placing it in the top one per cent of companies assessed, according to the group’s own newsroom. In the UK, the company’s sustainability record includes one of the country’s most significant corporate solar installations: its site reports 13,680 solar panels on the roof of its National Distribution Centre in Telford, paired with a large scale battery storage system.
People and communities
The company is equally committed to social impact, with a strong focus on inclusive employment practices, community engagement and ethical standards across its value chain. Its published commitments include corporate membership of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower scheme and a signed Armed Forces Covenant, listed on gov.uk.
Through continuous innovation, customer-centric services and a responsible approach to business, Lyreco has built a reputation as a trusted, forward-thinking partner, playing a key role in shaping more sustainable and efficient workplaces across the UK and Ireland.
In the running for November
Lyreco UK & Ireland now joins the shortlist for The Social & Sustainable Impact Award, a category that recognises organisations aligning profit with purpose across society, environment, economy and governance. Winners of the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards will be announced at Grosvenor House, London, on 10 November 2026, where the distributor will learn whether a hundred years of heritage and a modern sustainability agenda add up to a win.
