Insignia Crisis Management, a specialist crisis management consultancy headquartered in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands, has been named a finalist in The Customer Loyalty Award at the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards 2026.
The firm prepares business leaders to respond confidently when things go badly wrong. Demand for specialist crisis management has grown significantly, the company reports, as organisations face increasingly volatile risks, from cyber attacks and geopolitical instability to AI-driven threats and reputational crises that can escalate within hours. Insignia’s stated purpose is to end the needless harm caused by mishandled crises, protecting businesses, employees, investors and communities from financial loss and reputational damage.
Specialists rather than generalists
Registered at Companies House as Insignia Crisis and Reputation Management Limited and incorporated in 2008, the consultancy works with leaders to ensure they can do and say the right things on the worst days of their business lives. It uses a proprietary method, the Crisis Proof Approach, built on six essential elements: Commitment, Culture, Foresight, Foundations, Skills and Confidence.
Its team of ten crisis management specialists works exclusively in this field, a deliberate contrast, the company says, with the Big Four consultancies that offer crisis management as one service among many. That focus, according to the business, delivers deeper expertise from a team that cares. The client list includes some of the world’s most prestigious organisations, among them Sky, Royal London, National Grid, Heineken, Hyatt Hotels, Mott MacDonald, Virgin Atlantic, Network Rail, London Stock Exchange, HS2 and Lidl, with work delivered across five continents.
Loyalty measured in referrals
The clearest evidence for the consultancy’s place on this shortlist is where its work comes from. The company reports that 56 per cent of new business arrives through referrals and recommendations. Its commitment to the profession also extends beyond client work: the annual Insignia Crisis Management Conference, now in its fourth year, brings together senior crisis professionals to share experience, challenge thinking and strengthen the capability of the industry as a whole.
In October 2025 the firm transitioned to an Employee Ownership Trust, a move it says protects its independence and preserves the expertise, relationships and quality of service that clients rely on. The company’s own newsroom announced in November 2025 that it had become 100 per cent employee owned after 17 years in business.
Recognition across the sector
Managing director Jonathan Hemus received the Lifetime Achievement award at the Continuity Insurance and Risk (CIR) Business Continuity Awards 2024, which honours outstanding professional excellence and leadership in business continuity, resilience and risk management, and Insignia itself was named Consultancy of the Year at the same awards in 2023 and 2025.
The Customer Loyalty Award recognises businesses whose customers keep coming back, and this year’s finalists were announced in July 2026. Winners of the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards will be revealed at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London on 10 November 2026. More about the consultancy is at insigniacrisis.com.
