The Sustainable Impact Award

Has your organisation embedded sustainability into your strategic decision-making, operational activity and business planning? Is sustainability a key part of how you measure your overall success? How are you driving this in your supply chain and local community?

Open to private, public and third sector organisations, including social enterprises and B Corps, this award recognises those demonstrating the commercial case for a sustainable and ethical approach.

The Sustainable Business of the Year Award highlights the role of organisations of all sizes in addressing social, economic, environmental and ethical challenges and achieving commercial success. This Award will recognise those organisations that have achieved meaningful and sustainable impact through partnership, investment, employee led initiatives to demonstrably show community and environmental impact. 

Judges will evaluate the extent to which your organisation has aligned profit with purpose and achieved objectives related to:

• Society & community
• Environment & nature
• Local, national or global economy
• Ethics & governance

SCORING

In this category judges will compare the extent to which each candidate has demonstrated excellence in the following areas:

Employee & Customer Engagement 25%

  • How have you attracted, retained, motivated and optimised your team to help you win or retain clients in line with your sustainability goals or targets?
  • What talent strategies, workforce models or initiatives have improved employee engagement, increased productivity and enabled you to achieve your growth objectives? How does this align with your sustainability goals or targets?
  • Provide case study examples and top line data to demonstrate how you have increased your customer base or market penetration over the last 18 months, and how this aligns with your sustainability goals or commitments.

Leadership & Innovation 25%

  • What is innovative about your approach to sustainability or ESG? How is your sustainability strategy or purpose aligned with innovation in your organisation?
  • What innovation or improvement has enabled you to achieve your sustainability or commercial objectives?
  • How has the management structure, leadership philosophy and culture of your company supported growth or improved performance over the last three years?
  • Provide examples of how leadership/management have improved impact on local, national or global communities.

Financial Performance & Growth 25%

  • Describe your growth strategy, how growth is defined, market trends or factors which have shaped it, key targets/metrics (including ESG / sustainability related) and what has been achieved over the last year.
  • How have you sustained growth, profitability, improvement or impact?
  • Demonstrate evidence of your business providing a positive social impact within its sector or community.
  • How do you benchmark success against your peers or industry in terms of growth or sustainability?

Purpose Beyond Profit 25%

  • Tell us how ESG and in particular sustainability is defined within your organisation and how those values and objectives align to your business strategy or commercial objectives.
  • What is your company doing to improve environmental, social or governance impact and how are these initiatives aligned with commercial success?
  • How does your approach to diversity, equity and inclusion align with your sustainability policy or purpose?
